as said bigger baits, but dont be suprised if you still catch the odd little one carp are so greedy,
but to get a decent hook hold try a longer hair leave a gap between hook the size of the bait and make sure your hooks are sharp
if you keep catching small fish maybe try differnt lake plenty of lakes around with 10lb-30lb fish alot of lakes have regular netting sessions witch sorts the tiddlers out |

no forget leadcore if anything has a reverse affect current seems to pick it up ,but bream is always a problem i try to fish around them but as you know there everwhere even my fav lake is bloody full of them now and guess wot they love all the bait carp do joy !!
i use 2lb tc barbel rods with 4oz quver tip with the rod tip in the air very few river carp go bigger then 16lb so dragging them in with a 3lb odd tc seems pointless

look at most pics of peaple holing carp, if you have a real live carp just slip your thumb into there mouth this calms them down you only need to put in the first bit just past your nail sounds freaky but works and is safe, but always take your pics over water or unhooking mat just in case. just dont try it with pike lol

for me i find carp are not that affected by the moon cycle ,pike on the other hand is a different story ive proven this to myself many a time ,carp in pressured water are so used to buckets of food they dont seem to care to busy filling there face on themore remote waters sometimes affects fishing but i worry more about air pressure and temp
this is only my finding but have herd some peaple with different veiws have a go see if it makes a difference |

all depends mate, wot sort of rig, wot bait there is so much choice these days to get a idea go to you tackle shop most carp hooks say wot there recommended for, i like the korda brand of hooks but all the top makes are fine,in the past ive spent hours as most anglers have, testing my rigs and bait in a old gold fish bowl i found out so much doing this and have ironed out many a fault from my hook and bait presentation |

i only use big pit reels these days as alot of peaple do know.
im running wychwood 80 reels they as good as any high price reels.
i know peaple who spend 100s on reels one set for long ditance one set for margin work etc there is no need even if you like baitrunners there are ones that are fine for distance work as are big pits for margin work |

one of the flavours i cant catch on i thik like all baits theres no reason why one bait works on some venues and not on anoter, for instance been using white choc on my regular lake with no joy tried it at another venue and couldnt keep a bait in for more then a hour 10 fish in 12 hour all 10lb plus
saying that some peaple swear by scopex i would say give them ago

there is no exact amount but dont go mad i tend to dip the old finger in and have a taste you dont need a strong taste just a hint
aslong as its soaked for more then 24hrs you dont need to boil it but if you want to cook it,cook it till hemp opens looks like a tail sticking out ,wont hurt to use soak water
infact i use it for ground bait water etc |
